Coailition in BC – The Olden Days in BC Politics

Here is a really interesting article from Tuesday’s Globe and Mail talking about a coalition government between the Liberal and Conservative parties in BC that ruled from 1941 through 1951. Essentially it existed for one reason, to keep the socialist Co-operative Commonwealth Federation party (the predecessor to the NDP) out of power. What was the end result? The creation of the Social Credit party, the demise of the Liberal and Conservative parties in 1956. Check out Michiel Horn’s article from the Globe HERE.

Really interesting story. Lessons learned. Liberals came back to life in the early 90’s. Conservatives coming back to live for 2009!
